Titirangi Potters is a vibrant pottery club, located in the Waitakere ranges on Auckland's western fringe. Members, both amateurs and accomplished potters, take part in local and national exhibitions throughout New Zealand, and work in a wide range of ceramic styles.
Titirangi Potters are a group of clay enthusiasts, located in Titirangi Village in West Auckland.
Our goal is to provide a vibrant facility where members can come together to grow as artists, and further their pottery skills.
Our mission is to share the creativity of working with clay to our members by offering pottery classes, workshops and raku firings. We share our love for this ancient art to the wider community through our annual exhibition and fundraisers and by providing pottery classes for beginners and intermediate students.
Titirangi Potters is run by volunteers and financed by member dues, classes and workshop tuition and grants. All members are contributing to keeping the club running by generously offering their time, skills and support where it is needed.
We offer a well equipped studio space where our members can get together to create pottery, gain inspiration and connect with other potters.
The club was founded in 1974 and was originally based in the old community house in Titirangi's Rangiwai Road. In 2002, Waitakere City Council built the new Titirangi Community House alongside the hall and library in Titirangi Memorial Park on South Titirangi Road, with the Titirangi Potters’ studio accommodated beneath.
You can see what goes on at Titirangi Potters through the doors on the track/ stairs that run between the Titirangi Hall and Park Road. If someone is working inside, feel free to pop your head in and say hello. The studio has two gas-fired kilns, two electric kilns, five potters’ wheels, and everything that an aspiring potter needs to make amazing works in clay. Whilst small, it is perfectly suited for members to share ideas and work alongside each other.
We're a friendly bunch, so please come down to the studio, or look around our website to find out more about what makes Titirangi Potters a very special pottery club.
Due to the waitlist for club memberships, we regret to advise that our waitlist is currently closed.
Any changes to this situation will be updated on this page. Please check back at a later date.
In late 2020 we were delighted to add two kilns to our studio resources. The kilns were partly funded through generous grants from the Waitakere Local Board and Foundation North. We would like to thank these Trusts for their commitment to local arts and enabling social outcomes for the people of Titirangi.
